kaikai provides strategic and technical consulting in digital, for the private sector, governments and development organisations. Based in Dakar, the team works on IoT and air quality, smart buildings and energy efficiency, data, e-health, automation and artificial intelligence.
We are looking for a versatile technical project manager to strengthen our delivery capacity across IoT solutions, environmental data, and AI-driven automation. The ideal candidate combines a solid technical foundation with a real ability to run a project from end to end, in the field as much as from the planning side, along with an analysis and design dimension.
The first assignment will be leading the deployment of an air quality monitoring network in Senegal, funded by an international donor, with field installations and reporting in English. Responsabilities
- Run projects day-to-day: planning, coordinating clients and partners, deployment follow-up, contribution to donor reporting.
- Structure and track the project in our management tools (meeting deadlines, deliverables and budget).
- Gather and analyse client and donor needs, and translate them into specifications and solutions.
- Contribute to technical proposals: approach, architecture, deliverables, costing.
- Install, configure and maintain connected sensors; deploy and monitor multi-site IoT networks.
- Build automation workflows (n8n or equivalent) and dashboards (Metabase, etc.).
- Integrate AI and LLM components into client use cases; leverage development assistants (Claude Code, etc.).
- Support training on AI adoption and improve the team's internal tools.
Skills
- Autonomy and ownership: carrying a site or a workstream without permanent supervision.
- Rigour and strong follow-through; user-centred methods; a KAIZEN mindset of continuous improvement.
- Analysis and design: gathering a need, framing a solution, contributing to technical proposals.
- Ease in the field and with people, including non-technical counterparts; team spirit.
- A genuine taste for AI-augmented development, which is a distinctive asset.

- Excellent written communication, to design, draft and review documents and presentations.

Requirements
- Bachelor's to Master's degree in computer science, embedded systems, data, telecoms or equivalent.
- Two to four years of experience, the upper end preferred, including at least one field deployment and technical project management.
- Applied IoT and electronics (sensors, ESP32 or Arduino, MQTT, Modbus, calibration): mastery or strong appetite.
- Data engineering (Python, SQL, APIs, dashboards): mastery.
- Applied automation and AI (n8n or equivalent, LLM integration, coding assistants such as Claude Code): mastery or strong appetite.
- Project management (JIRA, Asana, OpenProject or equivalent) and donor reporting.
- Fluent French. Professional English for donor reporting, without needing to be bilingual.
- Based in Dakar, Senegal.

Terms and application
Contract: six-month service contract, converting to a fixed-term employment contract based on your results over that period. The employment contract includes health insurance.
Location: Dakar, with field travel across Senegal and occasional assignments in the wider region.
Start date: as soon as possible.
Compensation: depending on profile and experience. The pre-screening questionnaire will ask for your expectations, and we discuss them at the interview stage.
